Wanted to take in the whole of the island and find out a little more about the place. This did the job perfectly. Half a day experience, couple of hours on the train then 45 minute bus return taking in the bits of the island the railway does not reach. Informative and entertaining guides for both legs. US$89. Drinks included in that price. I took some some small bills in case the staff deserved a "thank you". They did. Coincidentally bumped into Steven Hites who outlined some of the challenges faced operating the service. This attraction deserves continued success. Highly recommended.<div class="row"></div>
Very scenic and beautiful views constantly changing. Hugged the coast a lot of the time with marvellous sea views. Commentary was excellent, cold drinks with or without alcohol such as pina coladas and rum punches were in plentiful supply. The ladies serving the drinks one in each carriage did well to stay upright as the train swayed the whole time which made it more fun. Gentlemen dancers were excellent entertainers in colourful robes. Choice between air conditioned lower deck or covered airy top deck. Booked through P & O cruises which included a coach tour of half of the island. Commentary on St Kitts was outstanding and picked up tips on proper use of spices for good health.<div class="row"></div>
Fabulous trip out, amazing scenery, staff were very friendly, well worth doing. Monkeys swinging through the trees, really interesting facts, cocktails good<div class="row"></div>

This railway is left from sugar plantation days. The crew work very hard to maintain the tracks and rolling stock, including some vintage diesel powered drive wheel locomotives. Each car has open seating, an attendant, and the entire ride is narrated. Entertainment was provided by local dancers in local festival/Mardi Gras costumes. Along the route you will see how the locals live, their homes, gardens, schools, and other facilities of education and research. It is a fascinating mix of old and new, have's and have not's. However, the people work hard on this excursion and seem happy and are proud of their nation.
I learned a great deal about the old sugar plantation system, how small and inefficient it was compared to the more modern industrial versions. It is important to remember that the old system and the citizens now are all from the era of slavery.<div class="row"></div>
