This is down as one of the must do experiences, and rightly so. A little crazy but the railway trip is a lot of fun and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone. It’s a view through St Kitts - not a manicured tourist vista but with beautiful beaches and mountains, hair raising bridges, waving locals and yes, the rock quarry and just kittian real life ! All lubricated with generous alcoholic and non- alcoholic drinks. Sit on the right for the best photos (unless you want to be staggering around to stand up to photo!) note for us this was also the sunny side which means you may get hot. Downstairs the carriages have AC but you need to be upstairs for the view. The reason for the 4 rating, is that on the coach trip back, whilst informative, the windows were too small and you couldn’t see much of what was rapidly pointed out which was a real pity as this was more site based than the railway. Sit on the left on the coach if you want to see most of what was pointed out, right for the coast. But all in all highly recommended, much better than the Nevis trip. Note we booked this from our hotel as the pick up as convenient, but it may be cheaper to book your own taxi.<div class="row"></div>

I did this shore excursion a number of years ago and really enjoyed it so I decided to do it again and it didn't disappoint. Had a very rude couple who were disruptive and blocked entertainment and some sights but this is not an issue of the ride itself. This is a very good way of seeing the island - the actual excursion is by train and ends with bus. It is quite an experience esp being a double decker.<div class="row"></div>

This trip was lovely. Lasted for a good hour and a half to two hours. Plenty of attentive staff to provide refreshments long the way, either alcoholic or non alcoholic. Very informative and very picturesque. Loved it.<div class="row"></div>

On my first full day in Saint Kitts, I was interested in a way to see and learn more about the island, without doing something too intensive for my taste. The Scenic Railway tour was the perfect idea. Though a little pricey, I think there's value in what you get. The driver who picked me up and dropped me off from my hotel, shared a little information about the island as we rode to the train depot. Once we arrived at the train depot, and migrated up the steep steps on the double decker cars, we were able to sit on the 2nd level and enjoy the breeze and the views. The attendants on each cart worked hard to care for us, passing out daiquiris and piña coladas (alcoholic or non-alcoholic), as well as a small cake made of sugar cane and coconut. It's really tough work to attend to guests on such a vibrantly swaying train car! I value the information I learned and the things I saw, and recommend it for anyone interested in an overview of the island. If you have more days to spend on the island like I did, doing this first could help you figure out which areas you'd like to spend more time in if you don't have a game plan set already.<div class="row"></div>
